September 1, 2012 - Course Syllabus
Course as: UAP 4964/5964 or MGT 3964

Title: Planning Presentations Internship or Field Study

Purpose: This new program is offered for an independent student interesting in learning about and applying presentations skills, beyond the classroom.

Identified VT Internship Coordinators: Dr. Diane Zahm (UAP 4964/5964) or Lorraine Borney (MGT 3964)

Off-site Coordinator: Dr. Erik CB Olsen,  eolsen@vt.edu, 540-320-1983

Have a core message to tie to
This is an offering for an unpaid "presentations intern" this fall. The VT Internship Coordinator's responsibility is to sign the necessary paperwork and to assign a grade after receiving a final paper from the student.

The internship/field-study is a "non-traditional" position in that it will be mostly evenings (Thursdays), and the student would be assisting Dr. Olsen personally with 4-5 presentations this fall, and would provide a unique opportunity for the right person. Activities would include assisting me with and supporting 5 presentations:

1.      Wed., 9/5/12, 6-8 pm (Pecha Kucha presentation at the Lyric in Blacksburg, VA)
2.      Fri., 10/5 (5-9 pm) & Sat., 10/6/12 (9am-5 pm) (presentation workshop at VT, AA 114)
3.      Mon., 10/22/12 (slidedesign workshop in Boston, MA) (distance support)
4.      Thurs., 11/1/12 (FDI course, part 1, 10am-12 pm, Torgersen)
5.      Thurs., 11/8/12 (FDI course, part 2, 10am-12pm, Torgersen)

Activities including:
·         Participating in Toastmasters on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month (9/6, 9/20,10/4, 10/18, 11/6, 12/6) from 6:30-8:30 pm

·         Meeting with me individually on the 2nd and 4th Thursday (also evening) of the month for presentation training/review of readings, with a first meeting sometime on 9/3/12.
